If English is your child's second language and he or she is in the ESL program (English as a Second Language), you can call me with questions about your child's
progress.
Your child may be in a pullout class, which means that he needs support to be able to work more independently in his English skills (speaking, listening, writing, reading).
She may be in a co-teaching classroom, that is, she is being taught by an English Language Arts teacher, along with me, an Englsh as a Second Language teacher to help support his English skills towards independency.
Your child may have exited the ESL program recently because his scores in the ACCESS test shows he is more independent in his English skills in speaking, reading, listening and writing. However, he will be monitored for two years and will be in a classroom with a content teacher (English Language Arts, for example), and I, supporting with strategies for your child's success in his second language.
